3 Doctors and 3 Dentists. were able to see over 200 patients with medicines provided. There was a weighing station, nurse with blood pressure readings, blood sugar testing, pharmacy and counseling. Many teeth were extracted and cleaned also.
220 patients. came from the community. We pre-screened them from a house to house survey and gave a pre-registration card to each family in need. Many will be joining in bible study because of the counseling and evangelism of the day. Most of the patients were receptive to hearing the gospel and many were prayed for.
Our first Medical Mission. We are grateful for all the doctors and nurses that were able to volunteer, as well as other Christians in the community who came to help this area of poverty and hardship. The neighborhood government officials gave use of there hall and assisted in logistics and order. We were appreciated for the kindness we displayed. The Captain wanted to know where we found such good doctors. Some of the docs have done dozens of medical missions and were invaluable in helping us organize and execute our first outreach.
They came early. and the local officials helped maintain order. There were many in need and God gave us strength to serve Him by helping this neighborhood. Many were interested because they knew the medicines were provided! They could not afford medical care beacuse most of them earn less than 100 pesos [$2.00/day]. All their income goes toward food and survival goods.
Registration. After months of working in the community and helping babies that were in need of families we then started to promote the medical mission. They came early and were helped with a priority for the families we already identified and gave vouchers to first. Ann is the social worker at Aloha House who managed the registration station.
Internal Medicine. Dr. Janeth sees yet another patient who would not otherwise be able to afford a doctor or fill a perscription.
Showing the love of God. to the poor is an important part of the Christian life. These people came from the poorest parts of the city and are in need of mercy and compassion as well as healing. Christians are able to help in areas the government is not able.
Dr. Joy practices oncology. and helped many people with serious ailments. All the patients were assessed and diagnosed as well as prayed for by the team. We had a pharmacy staff as well as counselors with the gospel of God's grace through the death and ressurection of the Lord Jesus Christ our Savior! Our boardmember/pastor was in charge of the counseling team and is now conducting bible studies in the area with the people whose lives where changed through this outreach.
Free Medicine. Free doctors' visits are not enough for the people we were helping. They do not have money for the doctors' consultation let alone the perscription. We are grateful for the donated medicines from the U.S. and the Philippines. Korean volunteers help in the pharmacy with another board member, Esther Kim.
